Felino A. Soriano - Three Poems

Approbations 236
—after Kenny Dorham’s Uno Mas (One More Time)

Plan, then
to become extended sentences of remarkable behavior. The tongue of you, too,
mine in retrospect
becoming a physical braid of silent formation, —interests,
much.
Not unlike
butterflies tangled within yarned residue
of a moment’s glassy complexion,
allow us, just once (more)
to become the afterward of awkward altercation,
that of fulfilled emotional calmness,
relating coinciding reflections and
bathe within the warming residuum of
embracing paralleled desire.

Approbations 237
—after Chris Potter’s The Wheel

Invented
like many theories and physical concepts:

improve, ease, control. Too

variants of invention steal and become baked
understandings of secondary prophecies, diligent
in their softer rhythms, sometimes unfit virtues of
unrealistic hankerings.

Approbations 238
—after Jackie McLean’s Blues Function

Musical synopsis, caregiver
giving opportune unity: relax, relate, manipulate
terse truncations of emotional
mayhem. Psychological intertwining,
that of sky’s daytime disposition, too, skin

and the personality compressor
linked
to the saddened happenstance of veracious proclamations.

Walking
into halls of relevant mind-rooms, delineated
hearsay, say to undermine leaning balance of unbalanced sadness,
focus

soon, in the exact moment of unknown manifest
this weight will rise, dissipate into various angles
of open-eyed facsimiles.
